Organic farming, also known as biological or organic, is a way of cultivating and caring for the land, raising animals and preparing food in an environmentally-friendly way:
Without toxic chemical products (manure, pesticides, herbicides, etc).
Without genetically modified seed (the so-called transgenic or GMO).
Without forcing the fertility or the animal feeding cycles.
Organic farming is regulated by a European normative (Reglamento (EC) 834/2007) that establishes standards for production, transformation, labeling and how these products should be controlled from the farm to the consumer.
The control can be carried out by public entities or private entities recognized as such in each Member State of the European Union.
The Region of Murcia has a great tradition in organic farming and has pioneered the production of fruits, vegetables, rice, grapes, almonds and cereals. Already in the seventies they began to apply this type of practice in some plots
